Operational definitions of the DUC 2004 baseline summaries

 Task 1 -------------------------------------------------------------

 1    Take the first 75 bytes of the TEXT of the document


 Task 2 -------------------------------------------------------------

 2    Take the first 665 bytes of the TEXT of the most recent document


For tasks 3 and 4, about half the 25 docsets will be chosen randomly
and assigned to one of the MT systems (IBM or ISI); the remaining
docsets will be assigned to the other system. "Best" translation
refers to the top-ranked translation of each sentence as determined by
the translating system.

 Task 3 -------------------------------------------------------------

 3    Take the first 75 bytes of the TEXT of the best translation 
      of the document from the assigned MT system

 
 Task 4 -------------------------------------------------------------

 4    Take the first 665 bytes of the TEXT of the most recent document
      in the best translation from the assigned MT system
