R O A D M A P P I N G
In 2000, an ad-hoc review committee was formed to define a research framework and long-term evaluation plan for Question Answering and Summarization. As a starting point, the committee released a deliberately ambitious vision statement, setting out what a comprehensive system for an information analyst should be able to do; and, it asked two community groups to prepare specific five-year road maps for Question Answering and Summarization. The road mapping effort continues, with new road maps being developed and refined as the research advances.
